The Cristero War is a little-known war consisting of an armed conflict that lasted from 1926 - 1929 between the government of then President Plutarco Calles and a movement of courageous Catholics who opted to defend their Catholic Heritage. This topic still brings the most heated debates amongst the Mexican people who fought and survived this horrific chapter in Mexico's history. The testimonies of those who survived allow us to experience the wounds that still run deep in Mexico's faithful. Priests were executed for celebrating mass, and lay people persecuted for practicing their faith during this bloody war.
